The transition to a net zero BTHFT will be driven by our people.

We are committed to improving engagement to ensure everyone is involved on the journey to deliver our net zero and wider sustainability goals.

We will work together to learn, innovate and embed sustainability into everyday actions.

Our workforce and leadership objective is to:

Create a culture of sustainability through comprehensive training, leadership development, and active engagement in carbon reduction initiatives, ensuring all staff are empowered to contribute to net zero goals.

Where we are

  • We recently appointed our new Head of Sustainability who will work with our Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) to implement the Green Plan 2025-2028 and drive our net zero and sustainability journey
  • Our SRO is the dedicated lead on the Executive Board for the Green Plan

Where we want to be

  • Establish Green Champions across the Trust to promote awareness and engagement of our sustainability initiatives and generate new ideas
  • Introduce a sustainability category at our staff awards to encourage and recognise sustainable behaviours
  • Align and provide training with our sustainability goals, potentially including sustainability as part of mandatory training and providing role specific training to invest in our teams
  • Improve our communications for sustainability issues to increase visibility and engagement
  • Introduce Board level training on sustainability
