Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has announced the appointment of Councillor Tim Swift, who was Leader of Calderdale Council for 11 years until May 2023, as a new non-executive director who will join its board from Monday, 1 September 2025.
Tim started his working life in research engineering in the private sector. He then spent more than twenty years in non-profit roles, becoming the Chief Executive of Age Concern Calderdale, and later Age Concern Calderdale and Kirklees, before taking up a full-time role as Leader of Calderdale Council in 2012, a position he held until May 2023. He was the inaugural chair of the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership, a position he continues to hold.
He has a strong interest in community organisations and regeneration. He was previously a director of both West Central Halifax Partnership and Action Halifax SRB schemes, as well as being one of the initial Trustees of the Halifax Opportunities Trust.
Tim Swift commented on his appointment: “I am excited by the ambition and vision of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This includes its focus on serving the communities of Bradford and beyond and its efforts to recognise and celebrate its dedicated and committed colleagues. I look forward to making a positive contribution to the Trust’s future plans.”
Sarah Jones, Chair for Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I am delighted to welcome Tim to our Trust. His experience in local government, voluntary and community sector organisations and his key role in our West Yorkshire integrated care system will be of immense value to the board, and our wider Trust.”
