A hospital physiotherapist is leading a 24-hour ‘therapy dash’ in aid of Bradford Hospitals Charity, who works in partnership with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to deliver projects which make a real difference to patients and their families
Lisa Capewell – who is based at St Luke’s Hospital – organised the fundraiser which will see the main concourse at Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI)l come alive with energy and determination as the incredible Therapy teams take part in a continuous 24-hour fitness challenge from the morning of Friday, 19 September, through to Saturday, 20 September.
Specialists from the Trust’s Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychology, and Dietetics services, will keep three machines — a treadmill, a static bike, and a rowing machine — running non-stop throughout the entire event.
Lisa said:
This unique challenge highlights the power of teamwork and the shared goal of raising vital funds that will directly benefit patients, staff, and services across Bradford Teaching Hospitals.
We hope everyone will be kept motivated by messages of support from our hospital colleagues, patients, their families and the Bradford community, which will be read out during the challenge to boost energy and morale.
If you are passing, please come along, stop for a chat and cheer us on. Every message of support will be grateful appreciated and if you can financially give to our fundraiser even better as every penny we raise goes towards our patients and hospitals so let’s keep moving for a great cause – Bradford Hospitals Charity: transforming care and changing lives!
Bradford Hospitals Charity works together to provide the very best for patients and staff at Bradford Teaching Hospitals.
Over the years it has funded “over and above” what is routinely provided by the NHS, including upgrading life-changing medical equipment, supporting our patients and their families, creating comfortable environments, and investing in the development and wellbeing of NHS colleagues.
Kelly Townsend, Bradford Hospitals Charity’s Community and Events Fundraiser, commented:
The 24-Hour Therapy Dash is a great example of a unique and fun, fundraising challenge. We are very grateful to Lisa and her team for raising awareness about the importance of movement and exercise while raising vital funds for Bradford Hospitals Charity.
