Shaheen began working with the Trust in August 2009. Her role as a Muslim chaplain is to work in collaboration with colleagues to provide spiritual and religious care for patients, carers, families and staff.

She studied Islamic Theology and later went on to pursue teaching before working in the social care sector for a number of years until finally becoming a chaplain.

“I have a special interest in bereavement, in particular working with our neonatal and paediatric wards,” she said.

“I strive to build on the good work established by my colleagues and continue to foster great relationships with staff, patients and families.”
