*Sarah is the substantive Chair for Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Sarah was appointed to the Chair role at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust from 1 February 2026 and from 1 March 2026 as Interim Chair in Common with Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a result, she has had to step away from her day-to-day involvement here with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Our Deputy Chair Karen Walker will support the Trust by stepping up as acting chair while Sarah is away.

Sarah joined the Trust from Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, where she had been the chair since 2016. In addition, she is the chair of the Yorkshire and Humber Applied Research Collaborative (ARC) and is a green champion for our Trust.

Under her leadership in Sheffield, the trust grew both in scale and the services it offers. She had overseen significant investment including a new hospital development and the installation of a helipad which will be completed shortly.

Sarah is passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion and while at Sheffield supported the setup of the colleague network groups. She also has experience of working within the integrated care system.

While in South Yorkshire she chaired the Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism Provider Collaborative, as well as being a member of the Acute Federation and Sheffield Health and Care Partnership. She is chair of Realise, an apprenticeship and adult skills training business.

Sarah was born in Bradford and is a former pupil of Bradford Grammar School. She is married with a son and a daughter.
