I joined the Health Psychology department at St Luke’s Hospital in January 2019, working one day a week. My role is to offer counselling to patients in palliative care. I am also responsible for establishing links with local training providers so that we can offer training placements to students on counselling courses, working towards membership of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
One of my first roles was as an Occupational Therapist working here at St Luke’s. The role gave me valuable insight and experience of working in physical healthcare settings. I then went on to work in mental health for over 20 years and for the last 10 years I have worked as a staff counsellor for a large local Trust. This gave me great insight into how dedicated and professional most staff are. It was a privilege to work with them.
