John was appointed to the position of Chief Medical Officer at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in June 2025.

Having moved to the UK as a schoolboy, he enrolled at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College after A-Levels. He then qualified from the University of London in 1998 and undertook house officer posts in Essex, London, and the West Country. This was followed by a research position that ultimately led to a Doctorate (MD) degree from the University of Bristol.

In 2004, he moved to Yorkshire to be trained as a urological surgeon. He spent a year at Bradford as a specialist registrar in 2007, then returned when he was appointed as a Consultant Urologist at Bradford in 2010. He has gone on to hold a number of Trust positions in clinical leadership, including Divisional Clinical Director and most recently as the Deputy Chief Medical Officer & Medical Director for Operations.

He is passionate about upholding the highest ideals of the medical profession and supporting colleagues to maintain and improve the quality of care we can provide for our population.
