Originally from the West Midlands, Fiona moved up to West Yorkshire in 1987 for a career in television production, making factual programmes for national and regional broadcasters. In 1994, Fiona joined Leeds Trinity University (TASC as it was then) as a junior lecturer in TV production. Combining the two careers, whilst also doing a Masters and a PhD (her academic area is Theology and Biblical Studies), kept her busy and out of mischief…and did lead to promotions. So, the telly work had to stop as she climbed the greasy pole of academia, completing her career as a Deputy Vice Chancellor at York St John University, before retiring in 2019. However, Fiona retains her interest in higher education as a reviewer for the Quality Assurance Agency, and in television as a member of the Royal Television Society Yorkshire Committee.
Fiona also volunteers as a radio presenter for BCB Radio; as a Governor at Bradford College; and as a PLACE assessor for BTHFT. Her book, ‘The Text of the Synoptic Gospels in the Writings of Origen’, is still available, and still rather niche! Fiona shares her life with her partner, Rachel, and two cats and, in her spare time, can be found either staring into space in her garden office or on the golf course.
