I qualified from Manchester Polytechnic with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design in 1990, and have worked within Bradford’s Medical Illustration Department since 1991, firstly as a Junior Graphic Designer and then later as a Senior.
I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in 1995, which I felt was a valuable addition to my qualifications, as it allowed me to become a more rounded Medical Illustrator, adding extra strings to my bow with regard to a range of subjects such as copyright law and anatomy.
Since becoming a member of the Bradford team, I have working on a variety of projects, ranging from patient information leaflets, right through to the Trust’s Annual Report documents, all of which are challenging in their own way.
I have won various awards throughout my career, including a Highly Commended from the BMA Awards with my What to Do if Your Baby has Stopped Breathing leaflet, and a first place prize through the MS Trust for a scientific poster entitled Developing a Process to Facilitate Safety Monitoring of Disease Modifying Treatments.
I have managed the graphics timetable for a number of years and I feel that it has given me a firm understanding of timescales and how to cope with urgent deadlines.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, walks in the countryside and eating out. I am also a ‘crazy cat lady’ who intends to visit the new Cat Cafe in Leeds in the very near future!
