Qualifications: RGN, MSc, Cert Ed.
Claire qualified as a Registered General Nurse at Sheffield in 1987, with her first qualified post in Infectious Diseases.
She moved to North Wales and Manchester within the specialties of Cardiology, Coronary Care and Infectious Diseases/HIV, before moving to The Christie Hospital in Manchester in 1994 as their first Infection Control Nurse. During her time at the Christie she was a member of the working party for development of the national guidelines for the control of glycopeptide-resistant enterococci (GRE).
In 2006, Claire moved to Pennine Acute Trust in Manchester as Head Nurse Infection Prevention, which provided a service across four hospital sites as well as community provider services. Claire was also a working party member of HBN 00-09 Infection Control in the Built Environment.
Claire joined Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in February 2018 as Nurse Consultant Infection Prevention and Sepsis Lead. She is chair of the Trust Infection Prevention and Control Committee and leads the strategic service delivery for the prevention of healthcare acquired infections (HCAIs).
She is actively involved in the Yorkshire and the Humber AMR/HCAI Steering Group and is currently Honorary Treasurer and a Trustee of the Infection Prevention Society.
Infection prevention and control in all its aspects including in relation to building design, decontamination, quality improvement and behaviour change.
