Experience and Clinical Interests:

Upon graduating from the University of Aberdeen, Christian completed his post-graduate Radiology training at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London.

At the end of his training, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists.

He travelled to Australia as a clinical fellow to further galvanise his general radiology knowledge at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Back in the UK, he attended a further fellowship in Musculoskeletal and Sports imaging at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

He was subsequently appointed as a Consultant in MSK imaging at Bradford Teaching Hospitals in 2011.

In 2017 – 2018, Christian was appointed Lead Radiologist for both Basketball England and Great Britain Basketball in a voluntary capacity.

He helped interpret elite sports scans particularly for EuroBasket – European Basketball Championships 2017 (Slovenia) and Commonwealth Games – Gold Coast 2018 (Australia). These helped with management of the injured sportsmen and women, enabling them to return to represent the country.

His passions are teaching and research.

Owing to his dedication and weekly Friday teaching sessions, he was recently awarded “Trainer of the Year 2025 for the Leeds & West Yorkshire Radiology Academy – regional hospitals”.

In regards to research, his interests are varied, and include pain relief for end-stage glenohumeral osteoarthritis with ultrasound guided- suprascapular nerve blocks, psoriatic arthritis, assessment of Artificial Intelligence and its role in the radiology department, and assessing ways to reduce unnecessary radiation dose/ Whole Body CT radiation in elderly patients who fall from standing height.

He has also written book chapters for Essential Radiology Sports Medicine and Harris & Harris’ Radiology for Emergency Medicine.

Previously, he was an Assistant Editor for the Radiology Integrated Training Initiative program (R-ITI) (MSK section), reviewer for BMJ Case Reports (Radiology section) and supervisor for Extended (Medical) Student-led Research or Evaluation Project (ESREP) MBChB course (2023) for the University of Leeds.
