The Trust Board is committed to upholding the principles outlined in the Bribery Act 2010 and the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA), which took effect on 1 July 2011 and 1 September 2025, respectively. These acts aim to combat fraud, bribery, and corruption in both the private and public sectors.

At Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we have established rigorous controls to prevent such unethical practices. However, it is imperative that we remain vigilant and ensure that all our employees, vendors, locums, contractors, and any other business partners adhere strictly to our policies and procedures, especially concerning procurement and sponsorship. We will continue to be unapologetic in ensuring we ask the necessary questions and show professional curiosity when carrying out any form of due diligence.

We expect everyone associated with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to understand and comply with the standards of behaviour we uphold. These standards, embedded in our policy, delineate the ethics, professional conduct, and probity we demand in business conduct. It is also the standards that our communities would rightly expect us to uphold.

A cornerstone of the Bribery Act and the ECCTA is a commitment from the senior leadership team of the organisation to prevent fraud, bribery, and corruption. The Trust Board is unwavering in this commitment and will regularly address these issues in board meetings, ensuring the importance of transparency and openness is communicated consistently. A board member has been appointed to lead our efforts in this area.

If any instances of fraud or bribery are suspected, we would encourage you to report this to the Trust’s counter fraud team by emailing yhs-tr.counterfraudyork@nhs.net or reports can be made anonymously to the NHS Counter Fraud Authority. Further details can be found on the Report Fraud page of their website.

On behalf of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, I reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that all staff are fully aware of their responsibilities in preventing fraud, bribery, and corruption.
