Patient information

This page contains information for you and your carers about anaesthesia which we think might be helpful for you when you prepare for an anaesthetic and surgery. Much of this information is written by the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

Explain my procedure

Explain my procedure uses video animation to help patients understand what their recommended procedure will involve, the associated risks and benefits, and possible alternatives. You can view the videos any time and as many times as you wish in order to learn more about your medical procedure, and discuss it with your doctor and loved ones, before you give consent to undergo treatment.

See the full range of video animations relating to ICU procedures.

Please note
These videos do not replace the need for personal advice from a healthcare professional. Please speak to those involved in your care if you have any questions.
