• Cancer awareness event for Bradford women

Bradford Teaching Hospitals’ gynaecology and breast cancer nurse specialists, along with the screening teams, are joining forces with the Islam Bradford Centre Sisters’ group and Muslim cancer charity, Safeena, to give an awareness talk on women’s cancers.

The Women’s Cancer Awareness event will take place at the Islam Bradford Centre on October 12 after Dhuhr at 1.30pm and will focus on gynaecological and breast cancers.

Speakers will discuss elements of staying well, self-care, screening and support when affected by cancer.

Nicola Edwards, Personalised Care Cancer Lead at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust  (pictured above) said: “It’s vital that women in Bradford are aware of the risks and signs of gynaecological and breast cancers.

“Early detection through screening and self-care can save lives.

“Our cancer nursing and screening programme teams within the Trust are delighted to have had the opportunity to work together with the Islam Bradford Centre and our local community to offer this event for women which will raise awareness and make important health information accessible to all.”

The event, which takes place at Islam Bradford, 1 City Road, Bradford, BD8 8ER, will also offer information stalls and the opportunity for women to talk to our healthcare teams.

There is no need to register, please just come along on the day.
