Using and paying for public parking

Under the new system, now live at Bradford Royal Infirmary, public car parks are pay-as-you-leave. Just use a nearby pay station before you leave the site. View a map of the changes (PDF).

At Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we’re making parking simpler, fairer and more efficient, providing a better experience for patients, colleagues and visitors.

The new parking system uses the latest Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology and has been launched at Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI), with St Luke’s Hospital to follow soon.

Simpler, Fairer, more Efficient

  • Simpler – ANPR will make it simpler to manage vehicle access and flow.
  • Fairer – Entry and exit barriers will make it fairer, ensuring patients and visitors only pay for the parking they use.
  • Efficient – Maximising space and better use of technology will make it more efficient and easier to find a parking space.

The changes explained

  • Upgraded pay stations are being installed, providing both cash and electronic payment options
  • New pay on exit barriers provide greater convenience
  • Patients and visitors will be given a free 20 minute window on-site to find a space
  • Blue Badge holders will continue to be able to park for free in public parking spaces
  • All current patient concessionary arrangements will remain in place
  • Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) will be managed and enforced by an external partner organisation
