Process for Requesting Employment References
In order to provide a fair and consistent approach to providing employment references for employees/ ex-employees applying for jobs elsewhere, the Trust operates a References Protocol for all staff groups (with the exception of Medical & Dental Consultants, Execs and Non-Execs).
As a matter of good practice, all requests for Employment References, provided on behalf of the Foundation Trust, should be processed via the Human Resources Department and not via Line Managers.
References should be requested on the Foundation Trust Reference Application Form, or should, as a minimum include the information requested on this form before they can be actioned.
Foundation Trust Employees should take note that if submitting an application form for a job (even if this is a job advertised within the Trust) they should put the Human Resources Department down as a referee and include the dedicated e-mail address (see below).
Any requests, or related queries should be forwarded to the dedicated E-mail In-box; email@example.com and will be responded to, where ever possible within 7 working days.
References will be produced on the standard Foundation Trust template only. Any information is provided without prejudice and is correct to the best of our knowledge, based on information available to Human Resources at the time of the request.
