Neonatology
General Information
The neonatal unit admits and cares for in excess of 500 babies each year - such as premature babies. The neonatal unit is a 27 cot unit of which six are intensive care, six are high dependency and 15 are low dependency. The unit provides specialised intensive care to babies from 24 weeks gestation.
The unit can support parents who wish to stay with their baby prior to taking them home - this service is supported by a team of outreach sisters who follow up care in the home environment.
