Child Development Centre
General Information
The Child Development Team aims to provide a family-centred high quality service to children with a disability or developmental difficulties. Those difficulties may be physical or to do with learning ability and / or communication.
Our Services
Staff work closely as a multi-disciplinary team and jointly with other services to assess the child’s strengths and difficulties and to try to find a cause for the problems. Therapy or medical treatments are provided when required.
The Child Development Team includes:
- Developmental Paediatricians
- Child Psychologists
- Physiotherapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Speech and Language Therapists
- Specialist Health Visitor
- Nursery Nurses
- Dieticians
- Secretarial and Administrative Staff
Children are usually referred to the team by their doctor and see one or more of the team depending on individual need. The children can be of any age but are mostly under 5 years. Members of the team hold joint assessments and appointments or meet together to discuss individual children and check on progress. Information is shared to help everyone work together to support the child and family. Wherever possible, individual targets are set and monitored.
The Child Development Team has links with other agencies and health care teams including:
