General Information

Bradford has an integrated symptomatic and screening breast service incorporating:-

  • 4 dedicated one stop symptomatic breast clinics per week (delivering 100% 2 week wait for fast track referrals). 
  • A dedicated inpatient breast unit (ward 25). 
  • Weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings conforming to national guidelines.
  • Excellent Peer Review. 
  • Positive QA assessment.
  • Role extension of breast care nurses in follow up clinics.
  • Sentinel Node biopsy, used to determine the extent of disease.
  • Immediate and delayed breast reconstruction, including European leaders of Strattice reconstruction.
  • A dedicated reconstruction clinic.
  • MRI programme for breast imaging.
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic mammotone services to minimise discomfort to the patient and provides more reliable detection of early cancer.

Bradford Teaching Hospitals hosts the National Breast Screening Programme for Bradford, Airedale, Calderdale, Huddersfield and Halifax.
