Emergency Admissions

In general there are two main routes into the Foundation Trust for Emergency Admissions:

Via the Accident and Emergency Department:

By far the largest number of emergency admissions come via the Accident and Emergency Department.  Patients can be brought in by emergency ambulance or other modes of transport.  They can be sent in via their General Practitioner or they can simply walk into the department

GP referral:

General Practitioners in the city have the facility to admit emergency or urgent patients directly onto one of the Foundation Trust's admissions units via a telephone conversation with the relevant speciality doctor. This doctor can be contacted via the hospital switchboard 01274 542200
