Joining Information and Form

Are you qualified to become a member?

There are three types of membership:

  • Public membership
  • Patient membership
  • Staff membership

Public members

Can be anyone who is resident within the Bradford Metropolitan District Council (BMDC) boundary and is over the age of 16 years. Public membership is broken down into five constituencies, namely: Keighley, Shipley, Bradford North, Bradford South and Bradford West.


Patient members

Are all those who have been treated as a patient in Bradford Teaching Hospitals who live outside the BMDC boundary and who are over 16 years of age or, where appropriate, they are the carers of former patients and act on their behalf.


Staff members

Are employees of Bradford Teaching Hospitals who hold a permanent contract of employment or who have worked for BTH for at least 12 months. Contract staff or staff holding honorary contracts, who have worked at the Trust for at least 12 months, are also qualified to become members.


Our staff membership is broken down into four constituencies:

  • Nursing & midwifery
  • Allied health professionals and scientists
  • Doctors and dentists
  • All other staff
