New £1.6million Workplace Health And Wellbeing Centre Open Day

March 25, 2010

YORKSHIRE businesses are being offered the opportunity to discover how they can gain access to the new £1.6m Workplace Health and Wellbeing Centre at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

The NHS showcase facility – one of just 11 across England - was launched by the government's Director for Health and Work, Professor Dame Carol Black earlier this month.

Now an open day for companies wanting to discover the benefits of hospital staff providing their occupational health services direct to their workplace will take place next Wellbeing Center OpeningWednesday (March 31) at Field House.

The event, which will run from 9.30-1200 hrs, includes a presentation by business development manager, Salim Akhtar, and a tour of the new centre where facilities include a rehabilitation gym, counselling suites, an audio booth and 10 refurbished consulting rooms where nurse advisors and physicians will carry out occupational health assessments.

A new mobile clinic – complete with hearing booth – will also provide services direct to the workplace.

BRI staff currently provide healthcare services, like hearing assessments and sickness absence referrals, to more than 10,000 employees both in the NHS and across a wide range of West Yorkshire industries, including more than 40 smaller companies.

Around 172 million working days are lost each year because of employee absences which cost employers at least £13billion each year.

Any business interested in attending the open day should contact Salim Akhtar on 01274 383668.
