Miles Scott to leave Bradford Teaching Hospitals after six years
After six years at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, Chief Executive Miles Scott is leaving to take up the helm of St George’s Healthcare Trust in London.
St George’s is the principal academic and specialist centre for South West London and Surrey, and Miles is expected to take up his new post in January.
Miles said: “My six years in Bradford has been extremely rewarding. I am very proud of what the staff at our hospitals have achieved in that time. Bradford Teaching Hospitals is widely recognised for excellence in patient care, teaching and research. I wish the organisation every success for the future.”
From November 1, Director of Finance, Bryan Millar, will become Bradford Teaching Hospitals’ acting Chief Executive for the remainder of the financial year while a successor is being sought.
Chairman David Richardson thanks Miles for all his work while at the Foundation Trust.
He said: “There have been many positive changes at Bradford Teaching Hospitals since Miles joined us in 2005 and the Foundation Trust is now in a strong position to continue to deliver high quality and safe care for all our patients.
“It's been a pleasure to work alongside Miles in both a professional and personal capacity and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his outstanding leadership and contribution to the organisation over the past six years and to wish him every success in his new role at St George's.
“Bryan’s appointment as acting Chief Executive in the interim will give the organisation, our staff and patients the continuity, stability and leadership required to ensure we can continue to deliver an effective service.”
Before joining Bradford Teaching Hospitals Miles was Chief Executive of Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust for four years.
He started his NHS career on the General Management Training Scheme in 1988 after graduating from Cambridge University with a degree in History. His career in the NHS has encompassed acute, community and mental health services, the King’s Fund and Trent Regional Office.
Miles is currently Vice-Chairman of the Foundation Trust Network Board, Chair of the West Yorkshire Comprehensive Local Research Network and a member of the GMC Undergraduate Board.
