Hospitals Open Doors To The Public In Major Showcase Event
The people of Bradford have the chance to find out more about their local hospitals at an open event being held at Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) on Wednesday 15th September.
An action-packed programme of events has been planned including behind-the-scenes guided tours, a presentation on ward developments and interactive displays from different departments of the hospitals.
Chairman, David Richardson, said: "Don't miss this year’s Open Event as it promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
“It’s also a great way for everyone to have a look behind the scenes, go on tours of the Foundation Trust and chat with staff about our future plans and the services we provide.”
A marquee in the grounds of BRI will host the event, which takes place between 2-6pm, with those attending having the chance to meet staff from different departments and find out more about how the hospitals function.
Guided tours will take members of the public behind-the-scenes and give them the opportunity to see the likes of our state-of-the-art £2.5m Listening for Life Centre and the medical physics department where medicine and physics come together for the good of patients.
There will also be a tour by the Estates department into the inner workings of our standby generator house and the maternity energy centre, and a talk into how we provide heating, lighting, ventilation and standby systems to the two hospitals.
The public will get information into major ward expansions including the exciting new million-pound-plus research wing of the Bradford Institute of Health Research, situated within the grounds of the BRI.
There will be a presentation on the Productive Ward, where our team will explain how different changes made to the way a ward works has a direct impact on improving patient care.
Inside the marquee, stands will include Going Digital (the Trust’s campaign to implement electronic medical records), the SAFE! Campaign, Being Open, PET CT scanning, operating theatres, the transplant co-ordinator, the renal and wound healing units, Pennine Breast Screening, clinical coding, security, sexual health and many more.
The Foundation Trust’s Annual General Meeting will be held beforehand, at 1pm, in the Sovereign Lecture Theatre, which was opened by Professor Lord Robert Winston earlier last year.
The open event will officially be launched by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Peter Hill, at 2.30pm.
Free refreshments will be available.
