GOVERNOR ELECTION RESULTS

ELECTION RESULTS: July 18, 2011.

The independent Returning Officer has declared the following results in the recent Public Governor elections for the Foundation Trust:

Bradford West (1 seat)
Mr Michael Warr (re-elected)
Michael’s new term of office began on July 18.

Bradford South (1 seat)
Mrs Maureen Sharpe (re-elected unopposed)
Maureen’s new term of office will begin on September 30, 2011.

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Chairman, David Richardson, said: “Both Maureen and Michael have made significant contributions to the work of the Board of Governors and the Foundation Trust in the past and I am delighted that both have been re-elected for another term of office.

”Lots of exciting things are happening here at the Foundation Trust and it is also a challenging time as the NHS takes stock of its future alongside rising public expectations around healthcare.

“All our governors play a very positive role in our organisation and their feedback about what is happening at their local hospitals is as vital now as it has always been.”

The Board of Governors meetings are public meetings and are held every three months when the Foundation Trust’s business is presented to them.

Bradford Teaching Hospitals’ Annual General Meeting (AGM), hosted by the Governors, takes place on September 15 at 1pm in the Sovereign Lecture Theatre, Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI).

Immediately after the AGM, at 2pm, the annual Open Event begins in the marquee which will be situated at the BRI. This major showcase gives Foundation Trust members and visitors the chance to meet staff, take part in interactive displays and find out more about what is happening at their hospitals.

The next Board of Governors meeting will be on October 19 at 4.30pm in the conference room at Field House, BRI. The Board of Governors papers are also placed on the Bradford Teaching Hospitals website www.bradfordhospitals.nhs.uk.
