Imaging
Consists of two departments - Radiology and Medical Physics.
Department of Radiology
There are departments on the two main Trust sites at Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Lukes Hospital.
The main department located at Bradford Royal Infirmary provides the majority of the acute imaging for the Trust, and supports a comprehensive array of examinations including: CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluroscopy and interventional studies (including cardiac studies) as well as a full range of plain film examinations.
The department at St Luke's Hospital performs the majority of outpatient and primary care referred examinations and has CT, ultrasound, fluroscopy and plain film facilities. An outreach ultrasound service is provided at Windhill Green Medical Centre (general ultrasound referrals from Bradford GP's).
In addition GP referred plain film examinations are also performed at Shipley Hospital (the Directorate provides staffing and support to a PCT owned facility), which is electronically linked to the main department at the BRI site.
Medical Physics Department
Located on the BRI site the Medical Physics Department provides some Imaging examinations - Nuclear medicine, vascular ultrasound. Other physiological examinations offered by the department include manometry, urodynamics and phototesting.
Non-clinical services provided by Medical Physics include clinical engineering services (equipment maintenance and repairs) and Radiation Protection Services. The non-clinical service extends to PCT's, hospitals and other organisations outside BTH.
All work is carried out by appropriately trained and registered staff from different disciplines:
Radiologists
Radiographers
Nurses and Specialist Physics Staff
